What to Remember When Testing Your Speed

Hargray does not guarantee the advertised speed to be available at all times as network conditions and traffic vary. Hargray provides a “best effort” service as referenced in the Terms and Conditions. Advertised speeds can only be obtained on an idle network connection with no other devices connected, and only by using a direct ethernet cable connection into the Hargray equipment.

Many laptops and mobile devices have inherent speed limitations. If you have a high bandwidth connection such as 1000 Mbps download, you may need Hargray to test your speed using special speed testing devices.

Router & Devices

Your router should be in a central location of your home to ensure everyone is receiving the same bandwidth. Keeping the router away from items that could interfere with the signal such as microwave ovens, Bluetooth headsets or even cordless phones. Because these items operate on a 2.4 Ghz band like your router it is better to keep them all separated to avoid interference.

Remember: Even when you are not using your devices, they are sending and downloading data through your Internet service, which can affect your speeds. To optimize your Hargray Internet, make sure you have disconnected the devices not in use.
