Where to Watch: The Oscars 2023

Catch all the entertainment and glamour of the 2023 Academy Awards. This SmartMoves guide shares where to stream all the nominated movies and how to watch the Oscars live.

The Academy Awards Ceremony is one of the most prestigious nights in Hollywood, and for good reason. Every year, creatives across the entertainment industry come together to celebrate their accomplishments with an awards ceremony full of glitz and glamour. The 2023 Academy Awards promises to be no different, and fans will have plenty of ways to stream it live.

What are the Oscars?

The Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, have recognized excellence in film since 1929. Every year, outstanding films from various genres are celebrated and awarded for their acting, music, production value, and overall entertainment. The event highlights great moments in cinema from the year and provides notoriety, especially to nominees and winners in the lesser advertised categories.

Over the years there have been many notable moments, including Hattie McDaniel becoming the first African American to win an Oscar, 2017’s Best Picture disaster when the wrong film was announced, and Sally Fields’ often misquoted “You Like Me” speech. The evening is always interesting — and often controversial (#OscarsSoWhite, anyone?) — in that the most popular film or soundtrack of the year by the public’s standards isn’t necessarily the one the Academy chooses. Although there are plenty of winners that most of us would agree deserved the top prize, like previous Best Picture winners Titanic, Forrest Gump, and The Godfather.

Oscar Nomination Categories

The 23 prize categories for the Academy Awards are separated into various areas of film production. They consist of the following:
