What do you need to get Sling TV?

The first thing you need to get Sling TV is a compatible device. Sling is available on most web browsers, mobile devices, game consoles, set-top boxes and smart TVs. You can even stream through a streaming device like Google Chromecast. See all supported devices.

Beyond the right device, you need a strong Internet connection.

According to Sling.com, you’ll need an Internet connection of at least 3 Mbps to stream, but you’ll want a package of at least 25 Mbps to ensure a smooth streaming experience for households with multiple devices.

How much does Sling TV cost?

Sling TV’s base packages of Blue and Orange start at $40/month, while hybrid package of Orange + Blue starts at $55/month and expands upon the channel options.  Finally, Sling also offers a plethora of add-on options to expand your channels, ranging from $3 - $21/month. Be sure to look for promotional offers as Sling occasionally offers discounted prices on the first month of service.

Is Sling TV Worth It?

While Sling TV is a popular live TV streaming service, it doesn’t offer local channels. An HD antenna could be a solution, however, antennas aren’t always reliable. With similar price points between Sling TV and the offerings from more traditional cable TV providers, choosing a provider like Optimum, Spectrum, Xfinity, etc. may offer a better experience for viewers. Most cable TV providers now offer many of the same benefits — on-the-go streaming, cloud DVR storage, add-on packages, etc. And with those providers, you’ll also get reliable access to all your local networks.
