What do you need to get Netflix?
To begin your binge fest, you’ll need to sign up to one of their three plans. It’s worth noting they do not offer any free trails or student discounts currently, so if you are wanting to try it for the first time you will need to shell out some money for your first month. It’s required to have an Internet connection with a speed of at least 0.5 Mbps, though we advise having a faster connection if you have multiple devices connected and streaming all at once. Ideally you at least want 3.0 Mbps for SD and 25 Mbps for 4K content. Once that’s been configured, all you need is a compatible device to stream your favorite content. Netflix is so widely used and accessible you should have no issue finding a device that works with their service.
What do you get with Netflix?
You have a choice between their three package tiers. Basic offers streaming at a lower resolution of 480p, you’re also limited to watching content on only one device at a time. Standard, you can expect a better resolution at 1080p (HD) and can watch your favorite movies and shows on up to two devices. Last but not least, Premium allows you to stream on up to four devices. It also offers 4K+HDR content, but this is limited to only a handful of titles plus consider having an Internet connection that can handle this level of streaming. Regardless of the package you choose, you can expect to have access to a large library of content including House of Cards, Marvel’s The Defenders, Ozark, and The Umbrella Academy.
How is Netflix different than a traditional streaming service?
In terms of content offered Netflix has been in the streaming game for quite some time making some significant gains to their platform. Since releasing their streaming service in 2007, Netflix has innovated by producing award-winning series such as Stranger Things, House of Cards, and Ozark which are exclusive to their service. Back in 2016 they released 126 original series which at the time was more than any other network or cable channel.
How much does Netflix cost?
As mentioned previously, Netflix does not offer any kind of free trail, student discount, or any bundle discount unless offered by a 3rd party as a promo. At minimum, you will need to pay for the basic plan at $7.99 a month to begin streaming on their platform. However, Netflix makes it easy to cancel or change your plan at any time. Standard is now priced at $17.99 a month which has caused some uproar from customers due to their hike in price. Premium is one of their newest plans with 4K content becoming more available at $24.99 a month. Just keep in mind the limited library you have access to for 4K+HDR movies and shows.
