What Are The Emmy Awards?

The Emmy Awards are an annual event that acknowledges the brilliance and creativity of the television industry. Originating from the term "Immy" — an informal term for the early image orthicon camera tube — the Emmy Awards pay homage to the exquisite craftsmanship that goes into creating captivating stories for television. This star-studded event unites the leading minds and talents in television from Los Angeles, New York, and around the globe.

How To Watch the 75th Emmy Awards

Get an up close view of the stars you love to watch and follow on one of the biggest nights in TV. This year’s Emmy Awards is scheduled to air on Fox on Monday, September 18, starting at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. However, there’s a high likelihood of it being postponed due to multiple industry-affiliated strikes.

Emmys 2023: Snubs & Storylines

This year's awards ceremony is sure to be a clash of the titans. Shows like Succession (27 nominations), The Last of Us (24 nominations), The White Lotus (23 nominations), and Ted Lasso (22 nominations) are all looking for a major haul of trophies.

However, like any year, there are a few controversial snubs. For example, shows like Fleishman is in Trouble (Hulu) and Love & Death (HBO Max) were overlooked in many categories. Further, household names like Harrison Ford and Elizabeth Olsen didn’t receive any recognition from the Television Academy for their epic performances.

Lastly, perhaps one of the biggest storylines of this year’s Emmy Awards is they may not even air until late 2023 or early 2024. That’s due to the strike by SAG-AFTRA union members, which includes writers, producers, actors, and more. Both Fox and the TV Academy have agreed to air the awards ceremony eventually, but they are at odds on the timing.
